Hi! I'm Jason.
The one behind the camera
I take a lot of photos.
I'm a 40-something-year-old husband and father of two. When I'm not with my wife, running marathons, or chasing my kids around the Pacific Northwest, I'm sitting behind a computer screen writing, designing websites, or editing photos.
I'm the one who's not in the family pictures because I'm typically the one taking them. I'm the one who will be holding a camera in one hand and a child in the other.
I'm that dad.
I'm not the photography snob with the latest setup. I'll shoot on pretty much anything. I will take photos with high-end equipment or a camera phone.
The artistic lens
I am an artist first.
I view the world through an artistic lens regardless of the medium. I feel if anything is worth creating artistically, it is worth perfecting artistically. I'll spend hours editing a single photo to get it just right.
As a photographer, some of the result is about skill, but a lot of it is just about luck.
The reason I shoot
To live every moment.
All of my photos here exist because I was paying attention when something interesting crossed my path, and I happened to have a tool to visually capture it. The rest was just pressing a button and praying things were well-lit and in focus.
Photography for me isn't about taking pictures of "things." It's about capturing a moment in time, creating a memory, evoking an emotional response, and touching the lives of others.
If I can make a difference in one person's life, it will be well worth it.
Now, if I could only figure out how to do that while simultaneously chasing or actively wrangling a child...
